Ed McDaid Memorial Dedication Ceremony

On September 12th, a dedication ceremony was held at the Forge Pond condominiums in memory of our founder, Ed McDaid. A tree, plaque and bench were dedicated in Ed’s honor at the complex where he both lived and worked. The event was organized by the Committee Members of the ‘Ed McDaid Memorial Fund’ and sponsored by donations received in the months prior to the ceremony for the tree, bench and plaque. The committee was comprised in large part by residents of Forge Pond who got to know Ed so well over the many years he lived there. The Committee Members included: Harold Drake, Mary Martino, Peg Dooley, Paula Barry, Dan Magni, Bob Burr and the McDaid Family.

An open house was held before and after the dedication ceremony at South Shore Staffing where light refreshments were served. Speeches were given by Ed’s sister, Linda McDaid, Ed’s father Bill McDaid and Harold Drake, a Forge Pond resident. The bench and tree will provide a lasting, physical way of remembering Ed in a place where he truly felt “at home.”

Just as important are the fond memories of Ed that each and every one of us will cherish forever. He truly left a lasting impression on us all and we will never forget our dear friend Ed.
